15th reflection

LAST ENTRY FOR PBEY 3102~ BLOGGING~



1. What do you like about blogging?

What I like about blogging is that it is very convenience. I can make it either as a diary or as a report. It would be fun as anyone read my blog and express their thought in it. Maybe they could share their experiences as well.



2. What you do not like about blogging?

When I express my opinion through blogging, people tend to criticize a lot. Most of them are negative. They like to do that because it is easy for them to express it compare to face-to-face interaction. I found this very unprofessional. It is like a bad conference. The problem is that when people do that through blog, some of the messages do not deliver effectively. There is no tone, not clear expression, and so on. This would lead to conflict which I do not like to face. If it is a good conflict which have a solution, then it would be fine. What if there isn’t?



3. What have you gained from blogging e.g. Language skills, improved fluency, critical thinking, improved thought processes, technology skills etc. How?

To me, I have developed my critical thinking and reflecting thinking skills. When we try to comment on others, we should do it in professional way. This is how I developed my thinking skills. I must be thorough in giving reflection to other people so that people will not misinterpret my comments. In term of technology skills, there is not much to improve because there is too much task to do than to actually learn it. Although most of the task are easy, but frankly speaking the task are tedious and not well explained about the purpose of each task given to us.



4. What do you like about this course?

There is not much that I like about this course. Only that we are exposed to variety of softwares and ways to find resources from the internet.

5. What you do not like about this course?

What I do not like about this course is the professionalism that was supposed to be shown in this course. We are human being but when it comes to work, tasks, or assignment, everyone has to be professional. We should not involve emotional state, biasness, or criticism in work. However, when it is related to the term “human” we should put the term professional aside. This is to make sure that we will not treat or being treated as a robot. Plus, there are so many confusion in this course that to me, should be made clear from the beginning so that we will not feel burden to complete the task. This course is also costly. Although we are well known that we are learning and we should not be stingy when it comes to learning, but perhaps to mention that we are students and not all of us have enough money is not too much I guess.


6. What have you learnt from this course?

From this course, I learnt about finding resources from the internet, using softwares and editing resources.

7. What have you learnt from this course that you did not expect to?

This course provided a lot of software as a tool to edit the resources. There are too many that I do not even expect that internet skills are essential. I did not expect the use of Photobucket, Youtube, and so on are taught to trainee teachers because I thought they are not related to the word “resources”.

8. What have u expected but do not learn from this course?

What I have in mind is about this course is how we will use resources and manipulate it in class. To be precise, to adapt it into the primary school classroom. For example, how we use pictures to teach about animals, how to make puppet from socks, how to search for song, poems, rhymes that are suitable for primary school classroom. Pupils like realia, or things they can manipulate from the lesson using their motor skills. However, I could not find it in this course.

I got to find resources from the internet easily.

I have to online when there is no internet connection in my house.

e. What are the specific skills that you learn in this module?

Obviously I learnt about internet skills. It helps a lot.

f. How the skills learnt in this module can help in the making and choosing of teaching aids for the ELT classroom?

I can now use my internet skills if I want to find pictures or images, or songs to be used in the primary school classroom.


2. Photo Editing

a. What do you like about this module?

I get to edit photo and insert messages in it and I think it is very effective when teaching the pupils. The lesson will be more attractive and interesting.

b. What do you not like about this module?

Sometimes it requires a lot of time to edit just one picture which means this module is time consuming.


c. What do you like about the task given for this module?

I get to edit my own picture. It was good!

d. What do you not like about the task given for this module?

As I said this module is time consuming therefore this task is also time consuming

e. What are the specific skills that you learn in this module?

Probably a several skills that I learnt are ICT skills, internet skills, thinking skills and much more.

f. How the skills learnt in this module can help in the making and choosing of teaching aids for the ELT classroom?
I can make my teaching aids more meaningful as I can include message in the picture.


3. Audio Editing Skills

a. What do you like about this module?

I involve the audio which I like because I love music and songs

b. What do you not like about this module?

It is hard to edit the song to make sure the tone still match

c. What do you like about the task given for this module?

There are a lot of thing that I can do with the module. And I can make the audio more interesting.

d. What do you not like about the task given for this module?

The task did not allow us to edit our own favorite song…

e. What are the specific skills that you learn in this module?

I learnt communication skills as a discuss it a lot with my friends

f. How the skills learnt in this module can help in the making and choosing of teaching aids for the ELT classroom?

I can integrate the skills when I teach a group of pupils in class.

I watch video a lot so I think I love this module too

b. What do you not like about this module?

I involve audio too so it is hard to do

The task was simple and I had produce my own video

d. What do you not like about the task given for this module?

Nothing. I just like it.

e. What are the specific skills that you learn in this module?

I learnt a lot of skills

f. How the skills learnt in this module can help in the making and choosing of teaching aids for the ELT classroom?

I am able to use the video to teach in my class after this.

a. What do you like about this module?

There are a lot of software that can be use to teach

b. What do you not like about this module?

Nothing. I like it.

This task was fine

d. What do you not like about the task given for this module?

There are a lot to do in one task.

e. What are the specific skills that you learn in this module?

I learnt internet skills and ICT skills

f. How the skills learnt in this module can help in the making and choosing of teaching aids for the ELT classroom?

I can integrate the skills when I want to make my teaching aids later





10. If you can change anything about this course, state what is and elaborate?

I do not think there is to improve in this course. But perhaps the lecturer to include the making f puppet as teaching aids.

hi. my name is written above. nothing much about me. oh ya, my motto is "we build humanity". this is very interesting term to me actually because when we mention "build", it always refers to architect and engineer. actually that was my ambition before. until i realize that i am in teaching institute, there is no way i can be an architect or engineer anymore. after this i will deal with human which is the children. my job after this is to develop them. that is why "we build humanity" i my motto. = )

14th reflection

Yezza!!!! this is the final week before the test next week. yet we still need to complete our blog and the tasks before the end of the semester.


Okay, for this entry, I just want to reflect the journey that I've gone through for the past 14 weeks.

Frankly speaking..I gained a lot of new IT skills from this class~

So thankful to the module! Yeahh~~ and Pn. Foziah too J

From this course, I know how to:

(a) Edit, cut and paste songs

(b) Change the background of the pictures

(c) Make and create a simple E-book

(d) Make and edit videos

So, because of this course, in the future, maybe I will become

a COMPETENT teacher!

13th reflection

one more week to go and we are on the end of the semester. Okay, for this week class, we were asked to submit all the task that we had done:

E-BOOK, LESSON PLANS and also MODULE 2 (Pictures Editing).

the next task is the lecturer asked us to edit video. This has to be done with a partner, so..still working with the same partner (Farah Husna), we decided to make a video about FRIENDSHIP. we chosen to use windows movie maker as an experiment to make this video. it was hard at the beginning because we need to select the pictures carefully and make goes in a flow. it will look more like a movie later on. secondly we chosen our friends as the main character in this video because later on, maybe 5 or ten years later, when we see ourselves back, we would remember all the joy we have, sad we shared and tell them to our children.

12th reflection

as i mentioned last week, i am going to show you our e-book. before making an e-book, there are few characteristics that we need to consider to make our e-book as creative and interesting as possible.
the characteristics are:

(a) the e-book must be appealing

(b) using big fonts

(c) colourful and bright pictures

(d) interesting- put animations, sounds etc.

(e) the language used must be suitable to their proficiency

it was tough work to us with just limited guide to make one e-book. however, my partner and i decided to make it simple. before we make one, the most important thing to do is to plan. thus, this is the thing that we do first in order to plan.


(i) select a theme or a topic

(ii) choose the setting-time and place

(iii) think about the characters and their characteristics

(iv) the plot of the story-conflict, climax, resolution

(v) navigational tools to make sure the slides can work properly (can go to next slide and previous slide)

(vi) selection of the sounds and animations to accompany the e-book reading

our topic was SEA ANIMALS as our theme.

11th reflection

we were also asked to create an E-BOOK using Microsoft Power Point~

We are needed to edit pictures and also audio (apply back your own knowledge). The e-book must be designed with the suitability of primary children as it will be used in the primary classroom.

So, want to know how my E-BOOK looks like??

as usual, my partner is Farah Husna. she has done a very good job that sometimes i don't think i deserve to work with her. just wait for our e-book k?

10 reflection

For this week, there were 3 things that we need to do:

1) To cut the chorus part of any song to make it a ring tone to make it a ring tone

2) mix two songs together

3) To edit the song "Dua Insan" by M.Nasir and Siti Nurhaliza



From the task, we all now were urged to learn about audio editing skills, where we need to alter and modify the audio to suits with our needs particularly in teaching.

The software used for this task is audio-city program or AUDACITY, and after learning these editing skills, I know that I can do something better to enhance my teaching next when I become teacher in school.

9th reflection

photo editing. it sounds simple isn't it? well, this is what week 9 for. we need to edit the photo and insert a message into the picture and make is worth to see and keep. We need to use picture editing software like ADOBE PHOTOSHOP,

PICNIC, PHOTOSCAPE and many others in order to edit the picture. oh ya, by the way, module 3 that we get last week was about editing pictures.

8th reflection

all right. for this particular week, we are introduced to audacity. but before that we need to hand in our Module 1-which is about computing and internet skills.

Then, not only that, we also were given another module, which is MODULE 3. This module is all about AUDIO EDITING and we need to use many audio software that are available in the net such as AUDACITY and SONY PRO VEGAS for example.

i have once learn about audio editing from my friends. it was simple to be honest. the instruction was clear and all. In audio editing, we need to cut and paste audio, changing the pitch, increasing and decreasing music tempo, amplifying and many other things.

this module also has its task that need to be completed. this task later will be compiled and put as Teaching Aids at the end of the semester. we need to collect technology and non-technology teaching aids and compiled in our portfolio. Then, we need to prepare LESSON PLANS.

All in all, we managed to complete all the tasks given within the due that.

7th reflection

this week we are doing nothing except... trying to finish the module that were given to us last week. remember Module 1, the thick module that i mentioned?? yes. it was suppose to done by next week.

fasting month really is a challenging month. it challenged my patient most of the time. two weeks time is not enough for me to finish the module. there are some other assignment that we need to complete and i want to go home for Eid Mubarak!!!!!!

Before the class end, Pn.Foziah mentioned to us to come to her office this coming Thursday as she wants to give "duit raya" to us which is MODULE 3-Audio editing. So, happy completing the module!! Yeahh~

6th reflection

hm.... this week we were given a thick task.

1) module 1

2) task from the module

it was thick and should be done within two weeks???!!!! this module was to be compiled with the other four module by the end of the semester.

Looking at the thickness of the module makes me think of why we need to complete all the tutorials in the module. But then, I realized that this module helps us to upgrade our technology skills. It shows us the step by step procedures and it is really helpful for us as many new things I can learn from the module.

Hard-Time consuming-Confusing-Tiring: are all the things that happened to me in completing the module. All in all, exploring and equipping with basic technology is a basic skill that need to be acquired as a 21st century teachers.

5th reflection

in the fifth week, Pn. Foziah gave us a task in which required us to design and prepare teaching aids for Year 1 up to Year 6 in pairs. She asked us to work with different gender so that we can change brilliant ideas with one another. So, my partner is a definitely a girl (really??) and her name is FARAH HUSNA BINTI (BIN) ABD RASHID. hehehehe.....

4th reflection

this week class was canceled. was it suppose to be a good news? because i heard that there were a lot of work given to the other class. their reaction to it was not good. "how irrational it was?" since we all are from same batch, so i guess we too will get same work. hm... well, do not bother it. there must be some explanation to it. see you next week!!!

3rd reflection


this week we are to discuss about the first chapter in Halliwell's book. she mentioned that there are 6 components about children abilities and they are:

(a) Children's ability to grasp meaning: For young learner, they usually make sense of their learning if teacher teach concrete vocab items that include well-illustrated teaching aids. These meaningful learning experiences make children enable to grasp meaning easily.

(b) Children's creative use of limited language resources: Children's vocabulary is very limited. Therefore, young learner initially learn chunk of language@baby talk in an unanalyzed way. They are trying to use as creative as possible their limited language resources in order to make others get the meaning and as a way of communication with others.

(c) Children's capacity for indirect learning: Learning occurs in 2 ways-direct & indirect learning. Children often appear to learn in indirect experiences. They acquire certain knowledge and skills subconsciously. The best part of children learning is when they have some fun during TnL process. Creating a non-threatening atmosphere is very essential for them.

(d) Children's instinct for play and fun: Children like to play. Having fun is the best thing that happened in their life. Thus, learning in a fun environment helps them acquire knowledge better.

(e) The role of imagination: Children who actively use their imagination gain lots of benefits such as playing collaboratively and become a creative-thinking person.

(d) The instinct for interaction and play.


in groups, we were asked to discuss about one of the ability and present is to the whole class. it opened my mind as now i know what is actually the definition of children abilities in term of their intellectual capabilities and not only their physical capabilities.

my 2nd reflection

our lesson starts 30 minutes after 10am. because before that, we need to elect one leader and a treasurer. hazwan was elected as a leader and dominic was a treasurer. i know that they can do it well. then after the election, we were asked to complete a set of questionnaires. the items asked about our knowledge on computer skills. i realized that there's a lot of computer skills and knowledge that i need to gain. oh my God!!

This was a new experience for me as I did not know that, if we used a correct way of using keyboard, we could type faster than before. Actually, if we take a look at the keyboard, the letter "F" and "G" was the center of the keyboard. The left hand was responsible for "F" territory only, meanwhile the right hand side was only for "G" area.

Puan Foziah told us the reason for that. It was because, our right hand is more stronger compared to the left hand side. That is why right hand covered large area so that, we will not get fatigue when typing. The position when typing also important where we must be comfortable. Our hand need to be at the same level with the keyboard in order to avoid from fatigues. I think, on second class, we had learn many meaningful lesson for example, without willingness to carry such responsibilities, all of our deeds are not going to be bless by GOD, and we were also learned on how to use keyboard in a right way.

but, i am a left handed. will this techniques help me??? please guys, answer me!!!!! wuwuwuwuw.......

my first reflection

my first impression when i heard the course subject was that i will deal with teaching aids again. however, when i entered the class, i was shocked because the first thing i saw were computers. never in my life i will make teaching aids using computers. by the way, the lecturer for this course named Puan Foziah bt Mahmood. She gave a warm welcome to us and she treated us well. The subject PBEY 3102- Using and Developing Resources for the ESL Classroom, Puan Foziah told us that, we will be using technology in using and developing resources meaning that, it will not be the same with what I'm expected! We were only using one printed material which was there's a book entitled "Preparing and Using Visual Aids for English Language Teaching". It is a good book actually. There's a lot of procedures for T-L activities, how to develop our own materials and many more. the book entitled "1000 activities for children" helped us as well. I hope, I could use this book for my teaching later. In this course, instead of using books, we will undergo this subject through integration of technology where we will learn how to familiarized ourselves with selecting, adapting, designing, and evaluating materials for teaching the ESL at the primary schools. It sounds familiar to me but I bet, this subject will be very different from what i had learned before because, we will be using technology and ICT in developing our teaching materials. Puan Foziah had requested us to bring a picture of passport size, 8gb of pendrive, and she asked us to install the Adobe Photoshop CS3 version and create a blog for this subject. wow!! i never had a blog. now i know the use of it. but still, i need to learn to make one. hope it will not be boring. i do not like that word.
